Our sources said that there was no ransom paid to free victim, rather, the gang was said to be running around the LGAs in Orlu zone until the ran into the brick wall of the police mounted around the area.
However, suspecting that there was no hiding place for them, they were said to have abandoned their victim, but could not escape the police arrest. There was indication that some prominent individuals including a military man who provided certain logistics for the operation were behind the kidnap.
The second recovery case was said to be that Agulanna, a part time lecturer attached to the Imo State University, Owerri whose abduction lasted for almost two weeks before he also breathed the air of freedom.
Unconfirmed sources hinted that the victim was able to mobilize a whooping #5m to loosen from the grip of the kidnappers.
Our sources said that the police command in conjunction with other arms of security agencies in the state is working on a new theory to unite the reef knott of the incessant kidnapping menace in the state, while the Imo people await the governor to sign into the law the death penalty bill passed by the State House of Assembly recently.
